Fiji for Families: resorts, beaches and iTaukei culture

Ten family days across the Fiji Islands — kid-friendly resorts on the Coral Coast, snorkelling in the Mamanucas, a kava ceremony in a village and white-sand beaches in the Yasawas — with activities for all ages.

10 days1 countryDry season (June-September) with dry weather, clear water and school holidays

Description

This family itinerary covers Fiji in ten days, prioritising resorts with kids' clubs, safe beaches and child-adapted cultural experiences. It starts in Denarau — the tourism hub with resorts like the Radisson and Weston offering free kids' clubs and pools with water slides. The Mamanucas offer shallow-water snorkelling with life jackets, where children can spot Nemo the clownfish a meter from the shore. The Coral Coast pairs an iTaukei village — where children learn about the kava ceremony and the meke dance — with Kula Wild Adventure Park, with its zipline and wildlife park. The Yasawa Islands surprise with the Blue Lagoon cave accessible to older children, white-sand beaches where the little ones can build castles, and manta-snorkelling from a guide's boat. The last day at Nadi blends the crafts market with the Orchid Garden and a traditional lovo dinner.

Health & safety

  • Fiji has no dangerous land animals
  • Mosquitoes transmit dengue in the rainy season (November-April) — use paediatric DEET repellent
  • Tap water is drinkable in cities — on remote islands drink bottled water
  • Fire coral stings: use rash guards and coral booties for the children
  • Healthcare in Nadi is of good standard; resorts have doctors on call
  • The tropical sun is extreme on children's skin — apply SPF50 every 2 hours and avoid the sun between 11 and 3
