Family Yucatan: Pyramids, Cenotes, and Flamingos with Kids

A family tour through the Yucatan Peninsula with accessible pyramids, crystal-clear cenotes, and a pink flamingo reserve for all ages.

6 days1 countryNovember to April (dry season, fewer mosquitoes)

Description

A 6-day trip through the Yucatan Peninsula designed for everyone from a 5-year-old child to an 80-year-old grandparent. It starts in Merida with the lively Plaza Grande and the flamingo park in Celestun, continues to the Maya ruins of Uxmal where kids can climb pyramids, and ends in the turquoise waters of natural cenotes. Logistics are simple: flat roads in excellent condition, short distances, and activities that do not require extraordinary physical effort. Kids will marvel at swimming in cenotes lit by sunbeams, climbing the pyramids of Chichen Itza on the safe side, and seeing pink flamingos in the Celestun lagoon. Grandparents can enjoy Merida's colonial architecture, refined Yucatecan food, and botanical gardens.

Health & safety

  • Sunscreen mandatory: the Yucatecan sun is relentless at the ruins
  • Bottled water throughout the peninsula except Merida and Cancun
  • Dengue mosquitoes in rainy season: June-October with lower incidence in dry season
