Magical Uzbekistan for Families: Samarkand and Bukhara with Children
Eight family days on the Silk Road: the Registan of Samarkand and its light show, Bukhara's Ark fortress and its carpet shops, Tashkent's amusement parks and the metro-palace that fascinates young and old.
Description
Uzbekistan is a surprisingly welcoming country for families. Uzbekis adore children, and the monumental squares and madrasas of Samarkand and Bukhara turn into gigantic sandcastles for a child's imagination. This 8-day itinerary is built for traveling families. It starts in Tashkent, where the metro decorated like an underground palace — with mosaics, frescoes and chandeliers — is a magical experience for children. Amusement parks and the giant ferris wheel round off the day. The bullet train carries you to Samarkand, where the Registan's night light show transforms the madrasas into a fantasy of the Orient. Children dressed as princes in the square's photo studios make an unforgettable keepsake. In Bukhara, the Ark fortress stirs up dreams of warriors, and the carpet and puppet shops of the Toki Sarrafon bazaar are an explosion of color. Teas in the madrasas turned into cafés beside the Lyabi-Hauz pool, under its century-old mulberries, offer moments of rest. Lodging in madrasas converted into boutique hotels (a unique experience for children), high-speed trains and a cuisine of breads and fruits that delights everyone.
Health & safety
- Drink only bottled water
