Madagascar: Nightlife, Paradise Islands and Tropical Parties

Eight days of pure fun in Madagascar: clubs of Antananarivo, parties on the island of Nosy Be with its famous ylang-ylang and international vibe, dream beaches at Diego Suarez and snorkeling among whale sharks in the islets of the Malagasy north.

8 days1 countryFrom May to November, the dry season with ideal temperatures for beach and party. Avoid January-March for cyclones in the north.

Description

Madagascar is not just nature and lemurs. Its most festive, carefree side concentrates in the capital and the northern islands, where the mix of Malagasy culture, French influence and tropical atmosphere creates a one-of-a-kind scene in the Indian Ocean. The trip begins in Antananarivo, the capital, where the nightlife is reputed to be among the liveliest in Africa. The city's clubs — La Boussole, Le Glacier and the venues of the Isoraka quarter — offer everything from Malagasy music (salegy, tsapiky) to afrobeats and electronica. The terraces overlooking Tana's hills at sunset are the perfect place for a Malagasy rum cocktail before heading out to party. From the capital, a flight takes you to Nosy Be, Madagascar's most festive island. Known worldwide for its ylang-ylang plantations — the perfume of Chanel No. 5 is born here — Nosy Be is a melting pot of international tourists, French expats and Malagasy people, creating a unique atmosphere of beach, diving, parties on the sand and epic sunsets. The local rum, flavored with vanilla and spices from the island, is the perfect companion to any evening. The trip culminates at the country's northern tip: Diego Suarez (Antsiranana), a natural harbor that is the second largest in the world. Here await Ramena beach, with white sand and crystal waters, the moonscapes of the Mountain of the French and the lively nightlife of the town. Boat trips to the islands of Nosy Komba and Nosy Tanikely offer snorkeling among sea turtles and black lemurs at liberty.
