Ghana for Families: Castles, Canopy, and Artisan Villages
Eight days in Ghana designed for families: historic castles on the coast, the Kakum canopy walk adapted for children, Ashanti artisan villages, and days at the beach and lake.
Description
Ghana is the ideal destination for a first family adventure in West Africa: stable, English-speaking, and with legendary hospitality. This itinerary begins in Accra with visits to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum — where children learn about the father of Pan-Africanism — and Labadi Beach, perfect for a first African dip with a lifeguard. The route toward the coast leads to Cape Coast Castle, whose guided tour is adapted for families with children: guides explain the history of slavery with pedagogical sensitivity, and there are open spaces to rest. Kakum National Park is the big moment: the canopy walk — seven hanging bridges 40 meters high — is safe for children ages 6 and up with harness and helmet included. In Kumasi, children can weave their own kente strip in Bonwire or stamp adinkra symbols in Ntonso with natural dyes. The trip ends at Lake Bosumtwi, a meteorite crater with calm waters where families can swim, go boating, and rest by the water. Eight days combining history, nature, and artisan culture in a safe and welcoming environment.
