From Dubrovnik to Sarajevo via the Dinaric Alps

A cross-border journey from the Dalmatian Coast to the Balkan interior, combining Mediterranean history with the ruggedness of the Dinaric Alps.

12 days3 countriesMay to October

Description

This itinerary begins in Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic, where the old town's walls guard centuries of history. From there, the journey descends toward the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, sailing calm waters past centuries-old fishing villages. The route continues into the Bosnian interior, crossing the Tara Bridge and descending into Europe's deepest canyon. In Mostar, the legendary Stari Most presides over the Neretva River with its Ottoman arch. Finally, the journey culminates in Sarajevo, where mosques, churches, and synagogues coexist in one of Europe's most fascinating cities. Along the way, the traveler crosses three countries, three cultures, and three centuries of history on a journey that challenges both body and spirit.
