Soft Adventure in the Balkans: From Sarajevo to Mostar
Family route through Bosnia, discovering medieval fortresses, waterfalls and Ottoman bridges where history comes alive joyfully at any age.
Description
This itinerary crosses Bosnia and Herzegovina from northeast to southwest, designed so that every member of the family can discover the cultural riches of the Balkans without excessive effort. It begins in Sarajevo, where the Ottoman bazaar of Baščaršija offers copper workshops and Turkish sweets that delight children. Travnik surprises with its medieval fortress and famous Bosnians. Jajce, the city where rivers meet, is home to a waterfall in the town center that leaves young and old awestruck. The Kravica waterfalls offer a natural water amphitheater for swimming in turquoise water. Finally, Mostar and its Stari Most, with divers leaping from 24 meters, round off a week in which adventure requires no extremes.
Health & safety
- Tap water is safe in major cities; bottled water in rural areas
- Bring sunscreen: the Herzegovina sun is strong in summer
- Water shoes recommended for Kravica: the rocks are slippery
