Argentina Among Vineyards: Palermo Spa, Mendoza Wine Route and Cafayate
Seven days of wine and wellness: a spa day in Palermo, tastings at Mendoza wineries overlooking the Andes, and high-altitude wines in the Calchaquí Valleys.
Description
Argentina is the world's fifth-largest wine producer, and this 7-day itinerary explores its two most emblematic wine regions with relaxation and pleasure as the common thread. It begins in Buenos Aires with a spa day in the city's coolest neighborhood: Palermo Soho, where designer boutiques sit alongside urban spas offering wine massages and grape-based treatments. As evening falls, a stroll through San Telmo ends at a milonga where you can learn your first tango steps. On day two, you fly to Mendoza, at the foot of the Andes, where the wine route unfolds among century-old wineries and modern-architecture boutiques. Malbec tastings — Argentina's signature grape — follow one after another, interspersed with multi-course wine-paired lunches overlooking Aconcagua. The second half of the trip moves on to Cafayate, in Salta province, at 1,683 meters above sea level: this is where the world's most aromatic Torrontés whites are made, in vineyards nestled among cardón cacti and multicolored mountains. The pace is relaxed and unhurried, with wine as the undisputed star.
Health & safety
- Altitude in Cafayate (1,700 m): moderate alcohol on the first day
- Intense Andean sun even in autumn: sun protection is essential
- Tap water is drinkable in Mendoza but not in rural areas of Salta
