Natural(3)

Stingray City

Swim over the white seabed of this sandbar in North Sound, where the water is barely 1 m deep and dozens of Dasyatis americana stingrays swim up unafraid to search for food among the visitors. Tours leave by boat from George Town, and the trip crosses the calm waters inside the bay. Standing on firm sand, you can touch the soft backs of these animals and watch as they circle people in search of squid. Guides explain their behavior and supervise contact to protect the group.

Cayman Turtle Center

Stroll through the Cayman Turtle Center in West Bay, dedicated since 1968 to the conservation of the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas). See the 7,000 turtles that live in its facilities and learn about its annual release-to-the-sea program. Snorkel in its lagoon, tour the aviary, and watch the shark exhibit. Each year some 300,000 people visit this center to learn about the breeding and care of these sea turtles on Grand Cayman.

Hell (Grand Cayman)

Walk the viewing platform over Hell's ironshore, half a hectare of eroded black limestone in West Bay, Grand Cayman, whose jagged shapes inspired the place's name. From the lookout you gaze over this field of stone without stepping on the fragile surface. At the post office you send postcards bearing the "Hell" postmark, and at the souvenir shop you buy keepsakes with the same motif. A short, quirky stop, ideal for combining with other sights in the west of the island.

Island(2)

Cayman Brac

Discover Cayman Brac, the central island of 38 km² with around 2,000 inhabitants. Climb up to The Bluff, the 43 m cliff that marks the highest point in the Cayman Islands, and explore its caves, such as Rebecca's Cave and Peter's Cave. Visit the 1937 lighthouse on the eastern tip or head below the surface to dive the wreck of the MV Capt. Keith Tibbetts, sunk off the coast. With its trails, birds, and limestone formations, the island offers a peaceful alternative to neighboring Grand Cayman.

Little Cayman

Take in Bloody Bay Wall, a coral wall that plunges vertically for 1,000 meters and makes diving here one of the finest drop-offs in the Caribbean. Explore this island of just 26 km² and some 170 inhabitants, where rock iguanas (Cyclura nubila caymanensis) cross the road with the right of way at marked crossings. Head to Booby Pond lagoon at dusk, a reserve where frigatebirds and red-footed boobies nest, and cycle along its quiet paths between wooden houses, mangroves, and almost deserted beaches.

Stroll the 10 km of white coral sand at Seven Mile Beach, in West Bay, Grand Cayman, considered one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Its calm waters invite swimming and snorkeling over the nearby reef, visible just a few meters from the shore. Walk along the waterline at sunset, swim in crystal-clear water, and rest under the casuarina trees that shade much of the beach. The resorts lining the coast offer restaurants and water sports, but you'll also find quiet public stretches where you can lay out your towel.
