Uzbekistan After Dark: Bars of Tashkent, Night Terraces of Samarkand and Moonlit Bazaars of Bukhara

Seven days of nightlife in Uzbekistan: the bars and clubs of Tashkent's Broadway Street, rooftop bars above Samarkand's madrasas, Bukhara's night bazaars and Uzbek student ambience.

7 days1 countrySummer (June-September) when the night terraces are open and the weather is warm

Description

Uzbekistan may not be known for its nightlife, but a new Uzbek generation is transforming the nights of the Silk Road cities. Tashkent, the capital, packs the country's most vibrant strip of restaurants, bars and clubs into Broadway Street, frequented by cosmopolitan Uzbek youth. In Samarkand, rooftop bars above boutique hotels, with views of the illuminated Registan, serve cocktails with Uzbek vodka in an intimate setting. Bukhara surprises with night bazaars among its medieval domes in the summer months, with stalls of crafts, tea and live music. The journey culminates back in Tashkent with its basement clubs, Uzbek karaoke and the experience of dancing with local young people. Uzbek nightlife is different: no megaclubs, but a scene of rooftop bars, small yet lively clubs and the pleasure of the warm nights of the Silk Road. Minimum age 18.

Health & safety

  • Drink water between vodka rounds
  • Bukhara's streets are dirt and dust: be careful coming home at night
  • Use official taxis or ride apps at night
