Wild Botswana and Zimbabwe: Delta, Chobe Sunset Booze Cruise and Victoria Falls

8 days2 countriesFrom May to October, during the dry season, when rafting is more extreme (lower water flow) and the Devil's Pool opens (August-January). Nights are cool and perfect for bonfires.

Description

If you're looking to combine untamed nature with the best parties of Southern Africa, this itinerary is for you. Botswana and Zimbabwe offer a one-of-a-kind experience: safaris and jaw-dropping landscapes by day, and epic nights around the campfire or in the bars of Victoria Falls, the capital of adventure and fun in the heart of the continent. The journey begins in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Here, nights at remote camps turn into parties under the stars: bonfires, Botswanan beer (St. Louis) and toasts with other travelers swapping safari stories. The sounds of the savanna — the distant roar of a lion, the grunt of a hippo — are the soundtrack. From the delta, the route heads to Kasane, at the gates of Chobe National Park, home to the world's greatest concentration of elephants. Here awaits one of the most fun experiences in Africa: the sunset booze cruise on the Chobe River. A barge with an open bar, music, elephants bathing just a few meters away and the most epic sunset on the continent reflected in the water. It's impossible not to make friends on this cruise. The climax comes at Victoria Falls, Africa's adrenaline capital. A 111-meter bungee jump from the Zambezi Bridge, rafting on grade 5 rapids, a zipline over the gorge... and at night, the vibrant bar scene of Victoria Falls, a meeting point for backpackers and travelers from all over the world. The Lookout Cafe, perched over the gorge, is the perfect place to start the evening with a cocktail watching the spray of the falls.
